The right reason for war

What do you believe is the 'right' reason for going to war, if any? Is it for natural resources, territory, money, anyone have opinions? This should be interesting, because I know why most countries go to war, i just want to see how others think about war.

only if its an invasion to overthrow a dictator. thats why, i partially approved of the US invasion of iraq. but i would prefer if the UN continued their weapons inspections in iraq

i think that the only reason wars should be started is if a country is doing harm to the rest of the globe. the war in iraq was a very stupid idea, the the people didn't like america, bush decided that if you went and started shooting all the locals, they would start to love us.

Actually..the only reason why we are in Iraq is because the Iraqi government wants us there, not because our government wants us there.

I belive that we don't really know the "real" reason. But I think Oil (no matter what people may think) plays a big part in what our governement does. Economics is a big reason for wars I think. It's not the only reason, all I'm saying is it is definitely thought about by the government.

Personally, I think the only "right" reason to go to war is for national and global security. If a country like Iran has nuclear weapons and are capable of using them, and have shown a will to use them, then I think it is our responsibility to step in. If a country like Pakistan is threatening terrorism, and have already proven they will do so, then it is our responsibility to step in. Not only is it our responsibility to do so, but we would be harming ourselves if we didn't.

Actually, Pakistan is one of our allies, although they could backstab us but i don't believe they would. Anyways, the main reason why countries go to war is, like radar said, natural resources, mainly oil at this point.

War should be settled without threats. Like maybe they all duke it on in CoD or something. Maybe play chess? Or spar? Their are so many more plausible options to settling debates rather then going to war, but from the beginning of time, starting with Cain and Able, this is how debates get settled. Go figure.

EDIT: I know this doesn't really answer the question, but there is no right reason in my mind.

correct, there is no "right" reason, but there are quite a bit of reasons that global governments think are "good enough" to go to war..

I say get the troops out before something else sparks off of the war and before this whole thing is way over our heads.
